Talking Salutations

Salutations,

I was recommended from another website to come here and try this place out. I have never really been into paper modeling but never have been against it either. I am an avid 3d modeler with over 8,000 models made for another website game. That game had Star Wars tones and as a result a lot of my content I have on hand to 3d model is nothing I can possibly do here. However I would like to learn how to do paper modeling.

I have plenty of design(2d) and 3d experience, including mechanical to 3d printing and use Blender for my modeling; GIMP/PS/Inkscape/Illustrator for others.

I love getting into details but rarely have the opportunity or the rewards in doing so with game work, which only displays things in a small frame (400x300px). I was recently demoralized with my 3d animation plans when I found I would need a better computer rig + financial ends to fuel my render farm needs. As a disabled combat veteran (Afghanistan) with my wife out of work for the last 7 months, I'm not able to expend finances in any direction without great risk.

That said, I look forward to having fun here and learning a lot!

Respectfully,
Onasha

Welcome Onasha - SW overtones indeed.... LOL!

You CAN make papermodels of SW stuff for free as fan art, you just cant sell it - well my opinion anyway. Looking forward to seeing your stuff!
Chris

Does anyone have any recommendations of 3d to paper other than Pepakura?

Onasha, if i am remembering correctly blender has a plugin that can create paper templates from 3D, check the software section it should be in there somewhere. also if you are familiar with sketchup there is a pluging for that as well, flattery i think its called.
