Hello from Houston
Been a plastic and wood ship modeler. Thought I would try my hand at paper models. Looking forward to being part of the community! I hope to learn a lot from other members through their posts.

Hello and welcome. Like many of us here I too started off with plastic, wood and different other media before turning to paper. Now it's 99% of what I build.
Find free models and download them first, this way if you make a mistake, Simply reprint that page, or entire kit and start over. Be forewarned, this like all the other types of hobbies is very addictive. Before you know it you'll be building things you never ever heard of. Most importantly, build what you enjoy, and enjoy what you build. So sit back, grab a xacto and some glue and have fun!! |

Dan,
What sorts of plastic models have you made - ships, tanks, aircraft? The forum members can point you to the best sources of free models, and commercial ones if you wish. Wayne McC |

Dan,
Most of the better ship models seem to be commercial ones. Digital Navy is an exception (Paper Models | Card Models | Modele kartonowe | Kartonmodell | Warships | Battleships | Digitalnavy.com) it has some free ones as well as some for pay. Lou Coatney (Lou Coatney's Military and Naval History Games, Writings, and Models )has some small scale WW2 warships. For vehicles, try LandshipsII (Landships II ). I have uploaded all my models here. Fiddlers Green ( https://www.fiddlersgreen.net/ ) has a lot of aircraft and some vehicles, most for pay, but they usually have a few for free download. that should get you started. Wayne |

Thank for mentioning CoatneyHistory, Wayne.
Actually, since the plans are .jpg, you can make them as large as you want - up to 1:300, I would guess. |

Hi, Dan -- Please excuse this belated welcome to the Forum/Community. An amazing succession of family moves and crises have kept me away from modeling for some time, but now I'm sort of back. My home's in Texas City, so perhaps we could meet in League City some day for coffee or lunch.
Other members have given you good advice about Canon and other free models. And even if a particular model is not your cup of tea, build it for general experience, then give it to other family members -- or even neighbors' kids. Welcome and have fun with paper models. Yale |
