Hi from sunny U.K.

Hello
Just started paper modeling though I gave made various other types of models I now find I have a major allergic reaction to super glue and so am hoping that using card with white glues will be ok. Any ideas on the best type to use would be of help also is there a conversion from American card weights to U.K. in grams
Thanks
hope to chat soon

Hi and welcome.I find Elmer's is pretty good ad well as Anita's Tacky Glue both PVA based although I am having glue issues at the moment due to playing silly B's with metal effect card. This might help with the paper weight conversion although it confuses the Hell at of me! http://www.paper-paper.com/weight.html

Hi and welcome to this great place, you will find that tacky type glues tend to work well as they give initial grab but also allow adjustment and also dry clear. Paperwise,I tend to use anything from 120gsm up to 240gsm depending on the part, the smaller the part the thinner the paper usually
Best wishes
Mick

Well, at least it's not an allergy to beverages made from malted barley and hops .

I agree with all of the above!
I'd say between 110 and 160 card depending on its requirements, lighter weight for small OR curved areas, and the heavier for strength. Although I use whatever I have on the shelf!

Nice to hear from a fellow brit! - we are starting to come out of the woodwork, it must be all this sunshine.

I generally use white pva (poundland) or 3M spraymount for large areas. Paperwise 180 gsm or 90gsm and cereal packets for thick card.

What are you building at the moment?

Tim

Yup, the Brits are comin! I also use 3M spray adhesive for laminating and UHU white paper glue for everything else, though I have been known to use wood glue without probs, too.

Welcome aboard
