Smile Hi from the bottom of the world

Hi everyone,
greetings from 'down under', New Zealand to be more specific. I'm into airplane models, just love the historic ones. Cold winter months are keeping me inside and that's how I ended up with paper models, thought I might give it a go

All the best,

Rainer

Hi Rainer. I've met lots of Kiwis over the years and loved them all, really. I was on a dig in Belize with one that a large and friendly English guy taunted with her pronunciation of "egg" (it being "ig"). She was great.

As you've said, Card Modeling is great for rainy, long, winter days. The problem comes in happy sunny summer days where you are scheduled for picnics, beach trips, or some other annoying thing that keeps you from your modeling. If you get into it you might tend to get obsessive.

So for site behavior, we love to see builds, no matter what you think of them. You'll always get positive feedback so don't worry about it. Give us photos. Lots of 'em. Have fun and ask questions. Oh, don't be afraid to touch Phil, he is actually harmless.

Carl

Welcome to the fold Rainer. I hope you can share some of your builds with us. We really like pictures. (nod, nod, say no more)

Thanks for the warm welcome

Just reading my way through the forum and trying to make my mind up where to start. Yep, will keep you posted .. no matter what 'it' might look like.

Cheers,
Rainer

Hmmm, some models are nearly 100% paper, some use wire/tooth picks/etc.
When is a paper model not a paper model anymore?

Just wondering,
Cheers,
Rainer

When it is posted on the plastic forums...(did I say a bad word?). lol

Seriously though, can you imagine making a ships rigging out of paper?
Do you really want to?
Micromodels (circa 1950) required wood, wire and bristle to complete many models. I think though it is our own artistic license to accessorize as we see fit...don't you agree?

Welcome and look forward to seeing some of your work....especially since I don't seem to ever get anything really finished.

Welcome Ranier. New Zealand is one of the places I'd love to visit. My friend visited years ago and became a lifelong wool and lamb lover. I wonder why.
