Just to say hello!

Hello there! Thought I’d just say hello! I am a complete novice to the hobby but look forward to getting started (I think!! Although each day I seem to find a myriad of reasons to postpone starting my first model until “tomorrow”). My main interests are aircraft of the Great War and real space modelling. I am 62 and live in Northumberland, England.

I look forward to a long and happy association with you all.
Warm wishes, John.

Hey John,

Thanks for joining, if you have any questions, just ask, the knowledge base here is quite extensive.
We have a great selection of models available in our Files section, and if you just happen to be looking for a particular model, the probability of someone having seen it, or created it will be pretty high.

Rick

Welcome! Two of the best real-space model sites I've found are:
AXM paper space models
AXM Paper Space Scale Models.com - Space Shuttles, ISS and more paper rockets
and Leo Cherkashyn's rockets
Space flight paper modelling
Most of the stuff on these sites are free!
A great place to start

Best thing to get over your first model jitters is to find a coupe easy ones and start cutting. Don't sweat the details yet. Get a feel for your own pace and style. There are lots of kits to choose from in both categories before you find techniques that will make the hard models that take weeks to finish easier and more consistently enjoyable to return to.

Hi John! Welcome to the forum and thanks for joining. Couple of other places you will want to check out are the First Cuts - A Lounge and the Tips & Tricks subforums. Lots of good information for a beginner. We're glad you're here. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the group. This is one of greatest group of people around. Just pick something, start cutting, and develop a skill set that works best for you. When you finish one post pictures of it. Don't be discouraged if someone points out a flaw of some kind. They will offer suggestions as to how your skills can be improved. That's one of the best things about my friends here, they won't suck up just to be nice.
