Woodmodeller converting to papar

Hi,

As a long tome wood modeller (historic 18th century ships) I wanted to try my hands on a paper model. Tinkered around with a free model and now I plunged in at the deep end with a Halinski Ki-61

Hello and welcome. As a wood modeler you were sort of a paper modeler. As paper comes from wood, sooooo!!!
Welcome aboard.

Hello Remco, welcome home!

With your background in modelling, then you already have a great skill much needed in paper (as in any other medium): patience.
You'll find a good deal of possibilities with paper. It's charming.

A few years ago a member of this forum also built the Ki-61. You may wish to look at his thread, as it can be informative on details of the kit you're facing: Halinski Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien

Have a great time!

Hi Remco! Welcome to the forum. Thanks for joining. Don't worry, you're not the first newcomer to the hobby that's jumped into the deep end rightaway. How are you doing on the Ki-61? If you do need help just holler. We don't mind helping folks out if/when they get stuck. We're glad you're here. Welcome aboard!

Remco,

Welcome to the forum. I am another modeler that switched from wood to paper and must say that paper modeling has been very rewarding. Trust you will find it the same!

Hi,

Thank you for the warm welcome, I already feel at home.
With wood I'm very comfortable (I'm trying to link to my buildlog with my wooden ship), this paper stuff needs some getting used to...

Thanks for the tip, although this is an older Halinski Ki-61, it is still very interesting to see his build.

I will open a topic to show my progress.

Also am a wood modeler although I still dabble in wood as well as plastic. Really like paper modeling though. So does my wife since I don't stink up the house with paint and glue fumes. Welcome to the club!
