Greetings from Qatar

Hello,

I am an American currently living Qatar (in the Middle East) and I joined due to the exodus from that other forum. I noticed quite a few members over there getting banned and felt like I needed to see what was going on.

I started this hobby over two years ago as a way to satisfy my hunger to create real 3D models. I used to build plastic, but getting the materials to work on them is difficult in Qatar. Paint and glue is next to impossible to import and I worry about shipping plastic over here as the kits could melt waiting a a really hot environment during shipping.

Card models allowed me to build things for next to nothing in cost and the range of models available far exceeds my wildest dreams. Whenever I have a visitor to my home, they usually look in awe at the models after I tell them they are all built from paper.

Anyway, I don't want to drone on. Thanks for providing a good forum to see what is going on and a place to pick up tips, models, and inspiration from.

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like we have another convert, welcome to the fold Steve. What do you like to build?

What I like

I'm mostly into scifi, BSG, Star Trek, Aliens (I'm waiting on the 6 foot Sulaco), but I also dabble in other things also. I have an F14 on the bench, a space shuttle I am working on for my son, a couple of submarines, and a few other things.

Welcome Steve. Wow, what a fascinating place. Must be something new going up every minute! A little too warm for my taste, though.

Welcome here Steve! It's good to see that you made it over here. Do you have any pictures of your builds?
