Thank you and hello

Thank you for approving membership of this forum.

I started with some Yamaha motorbike models and have got hooked onto this craft.

I also make plastic kit models as well, but the papercraft is a welcome break from time to time!

Hello and welcome. The fact you still build innthat other medium, plastic, will not be held against you. LOL. Many of us here do as well.
Take a look around. See what there is to offer here. Lots of helpful advice from very knowledagble and helpful people.

Hi Ade! Welcome to the forum. Thanks for joining. Which Somerset are you from, NJ, SA or London? Paper modeling is an addictive hobby as you have found out. Only good addiction that I know of, and a most enjoyable one at that. We're glad you're here. Welcome aboard!

Somerset, England

Hi Elliot,

I'm from Somerset in the South West of England.

Paper modelling is addictive - I have a small camping table set up in the front room. Most evenings I drag it over to my chair and have a go whilst watching TV.

The trouble is that other jobs are starting to stack up!!

Welcome Brickie7. If my memory serves me right, those Yamaha motorcycle models are pretty detailed and not the easiest of models to build. Do you have any pictures?

Hi Philip, I've built a pop-up card already and I'm in the niddle of the XJR1300 realistic model. I have used 160gsm card from Hobbycraft - 100 sheets for £4. I think it might be a little thick for some of the parts. Yamaha recommend 110 - 135 gsm. It's taken me a little while to get up to speed with the folding and gluing process. I feel more confident now, but I am not totally happy with some of the parts. If I learn how to post pictures I'll try and start a build thread.
The realistic models have more than enough parts to start with. The ultra realistic models have between 500 and 1000 parts!!!

Have fun
Ade
