Greetings from Sunny Florida.

* 54 years old.
* Haven't worked on a model since high school.
* Lots of old plastic airplane models still in attic somewhere.
* Have recently discovered this amazing hobby of papercraft model building.
* Looking forward to building a reasonably complicated sailing ship model but will start with a 2 piece cube.

Hope this will be an adventure.

Mark

Welcome, do you like military paper models? I recently found a fairly simple tank https://i.pinimg.com/736x/08/28/44/0...5eff48e090.jpg

I think all my models from when I was younger are military airplanes. Jets and props. I dont think I built and wheeled or tracked vehicles. However, I find that I am drawn to military dioramas with tanks etc. Tanks can be placed in context better than airplanes. Hanging them on a string only goes so far.

If you are not adverse to WWI tanks, check this site

Landships II

A lot of these are pretty small, but they scale up very nicely. There are a lot of interesting armored cars there also.

Welcome to the Madness,
Beard

Cool. These tanks look good. There seems to be enough free templates online from everything from tanks to dodo birds that I may not have to ever buy a template. However, I don't have a desire to build a model dodo bird...yet.

Hello and welcome. There are some similarities between plastic and paper modeling, the ultimate goal is to make a nicely finished model. The big diffence is, how you get there.
Take some time to look around this site for lots of helpful advice on building. Then download some simple models to get started. Doesn’t matter what, just so you get you feet wet.

I found a "seemingly" simple free model online that I am trying. It is the compass from Disney's Pirates. I cut most out last night and will finish cutting tonight. Looking forward to it. I have also found enough free material online to build for the rest of my life it seems. Of course I would not have found any of those links without finding this forum first!

Also, scale modelers are my favorite people. Thanks for the support.
