Welcome. Which me 262 model is it? There are several, and some are more difficult than others.

Planes have always been difficult for me, but I'm sure others will be able to help

Hello and welcome. You say your building your first model a 262. Just take your time and look around this forum for lots of helpful advice. There’s plenty of 262 builds here, just type in me262 in the search bar and a bunch of builds will come up, from the most simple, to the amazingly highly detailed.
Just take your time, and enjoy. After all, that’s what it’s supposed to be all about.
