Talking Hello

Hi my name is Matthew, I’m from New Zealand
A Leo
I like long walks on beaches and pina colada’s
(Oh wait wrong forum)

What have I started? This looks like my new obsession, ha ha
Any way I got into this from looking for a cheap hobby to do while I was off work
From a back operation

Stumbled onto the Yamaha site with papercraft bikes, any way I soon realise that I’ve jumped into the deep end of the pool.

So I downloaded a couple of three page models to build up my skills.

Moving forward I’ve realised the mistakes made along the way, the Yamaha bike
Printed on to light paper, white edges on folds. Funny I was so proud to finish it.
But 3 more models in I look back at it and think yuck.

But that’s the great thing about this hobby, it was a couple of dollars of paper

Then I ran across this forum, and it’s been a wealth of information. Thought it’s about time I say Hello
.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for joining and introducing yourself. This hobby is indeed addicting, probably should come with a medical warning. Nah. Hope you stick around and post pics of your builds. We love pics!

Hello and welcome aboard.
Doesn’t matter weather you like walking on beaches in the rain with a adult beverage in hand, or actually building things out of paper.
Seeing how this site is dedicated to the building of paper items and your getting into the hobby, guess you came to the right place.

Welcome aboard Matt. You'll get the best out of your new found hobby on here. Ignore MichaelS- this is a 'Non-Violence' site. Especially against me.

Thanks

Cool, nice to join the group.
Does any know how to post pictures via iPad?

I’ve found paper modeling very interesting, it could be very easy to extremely challenging.
And I love a challenge

Oh and the looks on someone’s face when you say I’m doing paper modeling
(Isn’t that what kids do in school)
And when the see the finish project they’re quite disbelieving. (Tapping on it, while saying “is that paper”)

I’ve got a list as long as my arm of models I want to tackle

Matt,

Also search out "Baguettes & Bandages" and a build thread for a P-47 by Airdave. Airdave does a very nice step by step tutorial. There are also Tools threads in a section by themselves. Some good ideas ther for tools. After all buying tools is one of the most fun things you can do with yer clothes on!!
