Hi, I'm a model railroader in the US who's interested in exploring the possibilities of using paper in O scale (1/48) model buildings on my ON30 layout. I've seen some pretty impressive work in HO and OO scale but wonder if the larger buildings in O scale would look as good? thanks, REL

Hi,
Yes, I've done some paper models in 1/4" scale. They look good but keep in mind that the larger you go in scale, more detail is necessary. Such as actually cutting out the double hung windows, or setting the doors back from your exterior walls. Good luck and show us pictures of your work/experiments. Jeff |

This site has some simple O gauge buildings to try out and see if using paper would be a good option
All-Gauge Model Railroading Page The downloads are pdf files. Go to near the bottom of the O/ O27 Pages section for the downloads. Quote:

And don’t forget the advantages of using forced perspectives on your layout by having buildings reduce in size in receding areas.

thanks
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll post any efforts I can get to an acceptable level for public viewing....hah....I've worked with Hydrocal Plaster and wood as building mediums an am looking at all materials which might work for realistic 1/48 scale buildings...I've got some sheets of foamcore board to work with and have ordered some Sintra board as there have been some pretty impressive brick surfaces done with those.

This site has a bunch of models with brick walls and some brick paper in what looks to be 00 scale (or is that OO?).
Wordsworth Model Railway You could scale them as needed.
