Hello from Maryland, USA

Hi all,

Ive been a plastic modeler for almost four decades now, but have only recently rekindled my interest in card modeling. As a child, I had access to my uncle's Maly Modelarz collection, and would occasionally walk off with one. But I don't think I ever finished any.

More recently I had the pleasure to build a few of the free Paper Shipwright kits, and I found the experience a nice counterpoint to plastic modeling. I'm really excited about getting the chance to build some civilian ships, and essoteric vehicles. In plastic, I usually stick to military subjects, but there is something about building tanker ships, strange locomotives, 1940s construction vehicles, and such, in paper, which is making me Keen to dig in.

Of course the first kit I ordered is a military subject, because some habits die hard. It is a Polish post-war patrol boat by GPM. I hope you all can help me along once it gets here.

It is nice to know that someone else on this forum admits to living in MD. I thought maybe I was a loner. Welcome to the community. I personally think this is the best forum available (no, I am not a Moderator).

I must warn you that this hobby is addictive and you have just joined the most paper addicted bunch ever assembled. So relax and enjoy; no meetings to attend.

Hello neighbor. Howard County Checking in. It’s true, paper modeling has definitely stalled my plastic projects.

Two fellow Marylanders (though I'm not an MD native) in a day? Wow!

I'm in Greenbelt, btw.

Where in PG?

All you MD guys: are there any local stores that carry paper models? I suspect the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask.
