The next thing

Hi to anyone that reads this.

I seem to be trying lots of things to find that thing that gets me going. I like modelling and creating things. I have made plastic kits, wooden models from scratch, carving, watercolour painting ......

So now it is the turn of paper models. I bought some kits from a model show in Dortmund years ago but they are probably outside my current skill and I haven't started them in case I spoil them.

I have browsed this site for a long time and have been amazed by what is possible.

Now to see if it is possible for me.

Welcome to the paper, you will love it. It only starts with something simple, not very elaborated, for example from the Cannon website, it has excellent high quality models, clear instructions and several themes. For me it is the best page to start. The first model I guess you will stay like most of us, more or less, but you will love it. Then you will improve and in this place you have everything you need and just look over there and ask, always someone answers.

Hi Podley,

I think I understand your sentiment. I too like to create things. I've been building plastic models for 30+ years, but lately I've been feeling the need for something different to scratch that creative itch.

I need a break from rescribing panel lines on aircraft, and weathering tanks to look just right, I still love doing both, but I wanted to try a different set of skills, focus on precision construction and cutting instead of precision painting. I hope paper modeling can provide that.

I'm still waiting for my first real kit to arrive in the mail. But the few practice kits I have downloaded and printed (on my admittedly dumpy printer) have been very enjoyable.

I hope that you too, find enjoyment from paper.
