Greetings

Greetings All.

I am a recent survivor of flesh Eating Bacteria and a Heart attack. My day job was Manufacturing Engineering at Boeing. I'm sort of an Airplane Guy. I stumbled across Paper Modeling on You Tube when I clicked on a gentleman building an incredible collection of Ferrari F1 cars... So I started looking around and found you guys. This looks like so much fun, the subject matter is endless and I can build almost any airplane imaginable. I'm looking forward to the first one, and as soon as my new printer is debugged, I'm off and running. Im really new to modeling in this way, I built styrene kits and dabbled in vac formed airplanes years ago. Im also an Engineer and I REALLY appreciate the talent I see here. Be easy on me as I ask the stupid beginner questions, and thanks for letting me in...........

Scott, 62 YO, Washington State, USA....

Welcome Scott! I think you found the right place. Your engineering background will likely come in handy when trying to convince paper to fold in multiple directions at once. Feel free to ask any questions and to check out the FAQ section in the forum. Have fun building!

Hi Scott. The last thing you need to worry about are the "stupid beginner questions". No matter how long you've been modelling with card and paper, there's always new stuff to learn - and everyone had to start somewhere.

Paper and card do have their limitations and part of the fun is trying to work round them, which is where, as willygoat suggests, your engineering experience will come in handy. It's a very rewarding medium and with a bit of care and patience you can get pretty good results. The main thing is to have fun - it's a great hobby.
