Ciao!

Hello everybody,
I registered some time ago and since this is my very first post, I would like to introduce myself a little, telling my first contact with this form of art.

It was the 2011 and I was out of town for work. In my hotel's room, as a Trekker, I was looking for images of star ships and other things. While looking for, I run into a "strange", faceted image, the Long Range UFP Shuttle Surak, just this papermodelingman.com/gallery_models_scifi.html#m13 (at the time the domain was jleslie48.com yet) and, with amazement, I saw that it's made of paper! The model is even freely available, it seems easy, so I downloaded it, I printed it... and now?
I need scissors and glue, maybe Scotch tape.

As enthusiastic and unaware beginner, I obtained rounded point scissors and stick glue, I started cutting the model, formerly printed in B/W onto normal 80 gsm paper (88 oz)... uhmmm, it's not so trivial to perform an accurate execution...
So, let's move on bonding: I folded the parts as best as I can, I realized that it's difficult to maintain the folds very straight and, sure, the glue stick is very inaccurate for the details.

Moral of the story: during time I obtained sheets of various grammage, a series of tools, different types of glue, mostly for the bottles with different nozzles... and a lot of paper models!

Unfortunately, I don't have much time, but from time to time, I'm able to do
something: a working Rubik's cube (pixelpapercraft.com/papercraft/53d5cf9dc3fb602f02000010/rubiks-cube-broken), the Saturn V F-1 engine (papermodelingman.com/gallery_models_other.html#m10), a working pendulum
clock (guru2.karakasa.com/pendulum_clock/pcp_e.html), the wonderful 1:48 scale Saturn V (papermodelingman.com/gallery_models_other.html#m79), started in 2019, the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing and still WIP!
Live long and paper. _\\//

Hello and Welcome aboard! The more paper models you build the better you are going to like them. I will go back to a plastic model every so often but I'm pretty much converted to paper. You are going to love it here!

Welcome!

Look at each subassembly as an individual model rather than the whole...you'll find it will improve your modeling morale and sense of accomplishment.

I think I already got fascinated: while I'm building them, I feel their presence and they bring me in their world.

I don't like so much plastic mainly due to coloring. One of the reasons I liked paper is that the graphics is IN the model But this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Welcome! The paper is fantastic, I see that we discovered this branch of modeling at the same time, 2011, in my case going through a difficult time looking for boat plans looking for something that would help me to spend sad moments, I saw something that said papercraft, between sniffing , I downloaded a model, I built it, it was a plane that could barely stop but I loved it and I couldn't stop anymore. It's a wonderful hobby.
