Smile Beginner!

Hi, I've been involved in the boat and ship model world since 2004 because the museum where I worked hosted the Midwestern Model Ships & Boats Contest every year and still does (except this year because of COVID-19). But the only model I've ever made was a paper model of the Split Rock Lighthouse. Recently I read an article about paper modeling by David Sakrison who I also had the pleasure of meeting last year, and his article persuaded me to try another paper model. My husband has a room in our house with a nice collection of Civil War items, so we thought a paper model of a Union and Confederate boat would be fun to try. He's going to help me as much as he can, but he has shaky hands so I'll have to do the careful work. Looking forward to it!

Welcome. We seem to be having a lot of ships going right now, so you will probably enjoy reading some of those threads. CTErtz has a number of civil war ships, and there are many others out there. I would use the search function, using key words 'civil war', 'union' and 'confederate'. You should find quite a few interesting topics

Welcome, check the download section here. CT had several there including a few simple builds that would be a good way to work up the skill level.
