Hello everyone! New guy here
Just dove into the paper world about a year ago. I am into 1/6 scale military figures primarily Vietnam era. I came across Modelik's M113 paper model in 1/25th scale. Well I decided to upscale it to 1/6th scale. I had the bulk of the pages printed by Staples and also printed out a number of pages in color. After a couple of months printing and cutting I have the basic body put together and I am now putting the skin on. One thing for sure; layering paper and paperboard is a lot of work to get the scale thickness correct. What amazes me the most is how detailed and accurate the model is. In addition, I purchased Dave's Saladin plans and I have worked my way through the basic turret, etc. Another amazing model. So, between the two, I see 2-3 months of work to complete hopefully! Once I get going further, I'll post pictures. Buzzkill, out!

Dear Buzz:
Any insight into Taking Paper models to 1/6 scale would be helpful as some of us are getting older and the mantra is coming due that bigger scale is better on the arthritis. I have been going 1/50 to 1/32 my self but going to 1/6 you must have to go with thicker card and add heavy bracing also. Please Pictures Miles

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. As this is new to me I'll try to get things rolling as fast as I can. Miles, as it relates to 1/6th scale. The two models I am working on right now have some internal bracing in their design. Scaling the thickness of the armor provides quite a bit of structural strength. Just a lot of work layering the cardboard and paper together. On the M113 I have an issue with the drivers side body panel right now and that is due to the fact that I don't have the front panel and top panel fully glue together. So the fender is bending downward. That problem should go away. I do want to allow full access from the top in order to show all the internal details. I may do some pinning or screw system to take care of it. Scaling up does create issues with panels that are angle such as the front. Right now, I am trimming the front in order to compensate. As long as you maintain the outer dimensions; you'll be OK. Just be careful, I sliced my finger this morning trimming the front panels to fit! I'll be taking pictures soon. Just to let you know, I will probably do a re-paint of the model exterior Vietnam OD Green. If anyone has any experience painting a paper model let me know; I don't to warp or bubble up the model due to too much moisture. Take care, Loren

Also, I don't know how you guys do what you do in the smaller scales. Even though the M113 was originally in 1/25th scale, the parts are extremely tiny. In some ways, the larger scale is easier to work with.
