Hello from New Jersey!
Greeting fellow modelers. I have been building plastic kits since I was very young. (I was 5 years old and got an Albatross seaplane for my birthday.) What memories!
I will build just about anything, but my main interests are military - armor, aircraft and ships. Lately I've been on a ship binge - Aoshima's IJN Maya 1/350 and Tauro Model's RN Fiume in 1/400th. While surfing the web I came across some build logs of paper (or card) models and.... WOW!!!! I am in awe of their complexity and detail. One in particular caught my eye. It is a build of GPM's RN Roma in 1/200th scale done by a German modeler on Modelshipworld.com forum. I am hooked!! I ordered the kit from GPM and a week later it arrived. So I am diving into a new world of model building. When I get a new camera (old one succumbed to my kids) I will post pics. I will most likely have a million questions for you guys, too. Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble and, oh - some incredible works posted here! I hope to share mine soon. Mark Staszewski |

Welcome aboard, Mark!
As a fairly recent member of this forum, let me tell you that you've found one of the most congenial hobby forums on the Internet! I think you're going to love it here! I'm looking forward to seeing your GPM Roma come together! Again, welcome! Wyvern |

Welcome - it's the model, not the medium. Paper does have the advantages (with the ubiquitious color printer) of allowing you to make "extra" parts, rescale models, and produce your own parts quickly and easily. It's also easy to work - adding additional detail or making modifications. I think you'll have a great time.
