Welcome aboard. Many of us started with the Airfix, Aurora (Telling my age), Revells, Tamiya and etc. and gravitated to paper. Many of the techniques you learned in plastic will come in handy in paper modeling. Especially when it comes to painting, weathering and touch-ups if needed. So, choose your genre, start building and of course, post some photos. See you around in the forums.

Welcome Bob (another UK resident)

Your route into this hobby is a very common one (mine as well). Silveroxide is spot on about cross-techniques. I was clearing out my garage this week and came across several sheets of flexi-grit; remember it? Pretty fine sanding paper. I also found a U-shape handle for holding flex-strips. I can certainly find a use. Happy modelling.

Welcome Bob to the FUN HOUSE and the best paper model forum on the net. When i first stepped away from plastic to dabble with paper, i was amazed at what can be made with this medium. I have never looked back, and would never build another plastic model again. Paper is coooooooool Have fun and ENJOY being part of our family here at the forum

Have fun at least you don't have to paint the finished model as well

Bob,
Paper models are not harder than plastic, just different, perhaps more akin to scratchbuilding in some ways and easier than plastic in others.

Have fun!!
