G'day

G'day from Cairns Australia.

I would just like to say hi and share what I have done with paper modeling so far.

My first paper models were ones off cerial boxs back in the late 60's and early 70's. another one I did in the late 70's was Aterix's village but it has disapeared long ago.

I was reintriduced to paper modeling in the 90's with Fiddlers Green free models like the Cub, Zero and shark.

I started making my own designs using Autocad and Pepakura.

Most of my designs were based on ships that the shipyard I worked for had built and 2 of these are on the net at Christines site - Downloads paper models domino set

I have not released any others for general use as I am hopless at instructions and the models tend to be dificult to impossible without instructions.

Some of the models are as follows:-

HMAS Leeuwin - 72m Hydrographic Ship for the Australian Navy
HMAS Collins - Submarine for the Australian Navy
MY Ophelia - 35m luxury yacht
MY Silverfox - 43m luxury yacht
Scubapro II & III - 24m dive boats
Brisbane - 84m dredger
Oceanic Princess - 63m Cruise Ship (Since ranamed to Oceanic Discoverer)

These models are at 1:200 scale.

Recently I played with Ollie's M1A1 tank and lav25 to convert them to Australian army style for my kids adding a M113.

I am currently working on a stack for a sugar mill and the cairns convention centre which are both very different to my usual themes.

I do not get a lot of time to actually build models but one day ----.

Catch up with Ya's later.

Myles

Wow! Now that's what I call an introduction. Welcome indeed. Looks like you have a very good background in paper modeling. You mention Asterix. Do you mean Asterix The Gaul as in the cartoon character?

Thanks for your very good resume (C.V.) You're hired. :D

cheers
Jim

Hi Myles,

I use ACAD as well, but the 2002lt version and full 2000.

Biggest problem for me is doing instructions as well. Quickest way to do them is take photos while you build.

Bring photos into ACAD and then trace the outlines. Quick and easy vs, trying to explain with text! Started doing this method and in the process of creating instructions for my models too.

you can check the results on the downloads page 4 or 5, look for SR71 Habu instructions. These were the first I tried this method with, since then have more instructions done this way.

Great models, thanks for sharing them.

Best regards,
Mike Bauer
