Hi

I just discovered this! I'm a plastic scratch builder, but I'm intrigued about the possibilities of modelling with paper.
How do you paint your models without the paper warping or going soggy?

That is the beauty of paper models, you don't have to

you can use colored cardstock to achieve the color in a model, a lot of the Gundam models are designed for that.

depending on the designer, you might have a model with the graphics already on the model parts.
Just cut them out and start shaping and gluing

Or in the world of digital paper models, just print it out on your home inkjet printer, and start cutting.

There are some people who paint the model after it is assembled, and most times they use acrylic paints, plastic model paint or even the paint you can find in the craft stores

Welcome

Dear Moflo:
You are entering Interstering Times. most of us in the card modeling end of modeling. don't paint the model as you are used to the card stock is printed with the color allready done. however some do scratch build and then they will seal the paper(card) with artist sealer or some cases use future floor polish. Go to the download section download print and try.
Good luck, look at some of the build threads, and try,
Miles

Welcome moflo - You can use any of the paints you would use for plastic models so long as you seal the paper first. An artists' fixative or any of Krylon's sprays for paper products work well for this. A light coat Testor's Dullcoat works well to.

I invite you to check out the First Cuts Lounge (Paper Modeling U). It is the place to get answers and ask questions. There is a lot of good info there.

Welcome aboard! Good words above - the beauty of paper is the printed graphics. No painting needed and detail limited only by your imagination and printer resolution.
