Goedenavond beste collega-snipperaars = Good evening dear colleague shredders !
About a year ago I accidentaly hit the site of a Dutch artist here on board. At that time I just finished the drawing on my pc of a Spitfire and intended to start plotting and building when I saw one of his paintings and thought this Westland Whirlwind to be a Mosquito. Whatever I thought is less important than the fact that I fell in love with the beautifuly painted scenery as with the plane as well.
The Spit is still pending, due to the pictures below: Serge Stone's Whirlwind and 1/50 mine Oh, sorry forgot to introduce myself. O.k., I'm a retired surveyor (6 years already...). Being 11 years old I joined modeling club Aeria in the North of Holland where we flew our 'free flights' at the airbase over there, gazing at the Meteors a.s.o. About 15 years ago I crashed my last R/C glider, noticed something rotten with my eyes and sold all the stuff. Few years later I felt the modeling fever returning and drew my first paper DC3 1/50. Gave it away to a well-known Dutch paper-model merchant who disappeared in the dark. My Connie was promoted to a toy all of a sudden a died instantly. But... I keep on drawing, cutting and glueing. Like all of you. C.U. :-) Gerard |

Welcome Gerard to the forum, i was thinking that last night myself when looking at a shop and the covers from some of the card models lots of the art work is just lovely to look at half make you think it would make a great painting to put up in the flat which is a strange thing for me to think since I do paint myself and have not one of my own art works hanging up

Leuk weer een Hollander, :D
Thanks for the link to Stone's site, I didn't know he was doing illustrations like that. It 's my roots too, but with airbrush, did the last couple of covers for KenL West, impressive collection you have, so make yourself at home here...:D |

Welcome, Gerald! We've got folks here building everything from works of art to "toys" (if it was enjoyed that should ease the pain of the loss) - and things that fly. Looking forward to your comments.

A new modeling area to me Yogi. Rockets and gliding jets. Up to your thread I've learned about, and some of them practiced, free flight, R/C, ultra-light R/C (indoor), controlline and even saw a carton 5cc 80cm span R/C model. Are there video clips somewhere ?

No thanks at all. May be you'll find your tangential point. Are you a modeler as well ? And if so, what kind of ? |
