Prudenzio Contest Macchi c202 "Folgore"
While this isn't one of my favorite planes, I do think the Italian Lightening is the only WWII fighter that can compete with a Spitfire for sheer looks. Not too surprising, I chose one with a North Africa scheme;
I'll be abandoning the double tab system for separate joiners on this one. Chris |

WHEW! I got scared of which one your doing. I have both of the "smoke ring" Folgores
printed out, just looking for some build time. Both boys are in baseball, coming up on tournament, and out of school, and teaching them some model building skills for an upcoming contest, and yard work, etc, etc, etc. (Ya'll know how it is), so time is at a premium right now. (That's why there are no MT-LB updates)!. So, I will follow your lead and watch what you have to teach me about the -202.

My computer crashed yesterday. Thank goodness for my old laptop! Taking care of my wife today, she's got a bad knee. So there's been some time for paper modeling!
I went with separate tabs instead of the double tabs supplied. I'm happy with the way it's working. The fuselage nose is a little tricky, only because of the inherent paper stress. I'm using 110 lb.card; I suppose this wouldn't be much of an issue with lighter stock. As this one is going together just as nicely as the previous two Zios, I thought I'd get adventurous and do a quick cockpit interior; The canopy was not a perfect fit, but still easily workable; Tail feathers went on next; I sure do like the lines of this aircraft. More later, I hope. Chris |

The nose and spinner have no former, they just double tab onto each other. I wasn't convinced that I could get that circle formed well enough, so I added a former;
The spinner went on perfectly. The props are designed to sit in between the two sections of the spinner, but I'll be adding them individually later. The main wing went on without a problem and quite easily with a good fit. I think I may have to try another SM 79 to see how I could have gone so awry with it. |

That really looks great Chris! The Folgore is one of my favorite airplanes of WWII. It's just such a beautiful looking design. You're doing a fine job on it. It's interesting that you've done away with Zio's double glue tabs. My current build had no glue tabs, so I decided to go with doubles. There are many means to the same end.

You're right, that aircraft does have some fine lines.
The model looks like it is going together quite well,too.
