johans kingfisher

after 'blue angels' nice looking firecrest birds from johan scherft i thought i'd have a go at the kingfisher.
i touched this one up a little with paint. added some eyes from my local craft shop. shaped some new feet by breaking cocktail sticks into shape and painting. just have to nip out to the garden for a twig to perch it on because i can't screw my hand to the wall! .

I've been doing some fish and birds and leaving them in a nursinghome. Those little plastic card holders for plants work great as stands for the models. Just poke the stand into a potted plant and voila, you have a plant with a fish swimming by or a a plant with a bird perched in it.

If you have any plants in your home, give it a shot.

The kingfisher came out well.

That is a nice looking kingfisher. A twig sticking out of the wall with the bird perched on it should turn out to be quite a conversation starter.

hi doug > dont know if you have been to johans site www.johanscherft.com he mounts his in a boxed picture frame with bird on branch, clear plastic for water and a fish. the fish is included in the PDF. iam looking around at the moment for a similar frame to maybe do the same. looks really effective.

Nice work. The kingfisher is one of my favorite birds. I even have the animated desktop toy for my pc.
