Has anyone done any of the models at the following two sites?

They aren't all birds, but there are some birds there. You do have to become a member of the site to get the password, but I am wondering if it is worth it.

Yeah, I've got both those sites bookmarked too Ash and am often tempted to cough up some shekels. It's not that they are expensive (If a one-off membership fee gives access to all the models, it's a bargain.), but my 'Awaiting build' file is so big I thought I'd hold off for a while yet, until I get the pile down a bit.

There looks like some pretty interesting models on both sites, but the tiny pictures don't give much away do they. That Albatross is really, really tempting me though. I wonder if it's full size? Nah can't be, can it?

Again, I'm hoping there's some one on this forum that has joined and experienced their quality. Pictures please if anyone has.

Johnny.

Hmmm! I've just realised that on both sites clicking on an icon brings up an enlargement.

Like a lot of the Canon, Epson, and Yamaha models, they don't employ an expert to build their demo models. They mostly look pretty toy like, but with a bit of pimping, de-peaking, burnishing, filling and filing, there's potential in a lot of the models, and if the smaller birds are life size they could be worth the effort.

Just bought it last week.

Was going to start modeling this weekend, but was just too tired. And aching from head to foot. Probably catching something.

I just looked through Johan's build instructions for the male Bird of Paradise. Now that's a build thread extraordinaire. Methinks that's gonna take you a while Kev.

The Swans are done ...

I think I'm still a member there, but I haven't visited in years. All of the models are pretty simple, although much of the color/texture work is really great. I think they are all about the same size, maybe 4-7" or so?
The models are more for fun and for the most part don't really hold up for display, IMHO, as most of them are not complete models, i.e., no underside, etc.
Hope this helps.

I've done a couple of the free models there and I still have the chameleon around. Undersides and enclosed legs would help. I mirror printed the chameleon on the back before building, so it doesn't have the white mouth and inner legs.
