Don't worry about it Dave. If you look back, I quite often do a spread here, and you're welcome. Anything to keep the thread alive, eh!

I suppose this is Kevin's thread really, but he's not been very active lately. Come to think of it, I don't think he's posted at all since Mandela died. Must be pretty busy over there.

Johnny.

yes, I emailed Johan this morning,
gave him links to the Bird threads here
and suggested he drop by and say hello.
I am extremely thrilled to see that he has.
Hopefully he will offer some tips and insight.

The little Firecrest also makes a very nice Christmas Ornament.

Here's my interpretation of japanese bush warbler (canon site).
In my humble opinion the original colors are not so good, perhaps depending on my printer. So I've repainted (only the bird) with water based acrylic paint.

Isn't that the Yamaha bush warbler? I was in the process of doing it for my grandmother before she died. Haven't gotten back to it.

Ops, I wrote "canon" but... yes, it's the Yamaha bush warbler, sorry!

Oh well, I suppose it's down to me to put up the first Bird of the year ...

And it's a bloody big one ... 26" beak to tail ...

The MB kit (found on eBay) didn't say what it is ... obviously it's a parrot, but whether it's a Macaw, Gallah, or whatever, I've no idea. It's a die-cut kit, printed both sides, mostly in a metalic sheen inks. Which I suspect is laser printed, as it scraped off the tabs quite cleanly.

The end result is too shiny and reflective to look very life like though. I dunno where it is gonna find a home. I had to lay up the kitchen table just to get a photo. I just might have to build a proper parrot stand for it.

Keep on snippin' ... Johnny.

PS: Any one in SA know what's happened to Kevin? He's not posted since November, and hasn't answered my PM or email. I'm considering an email to his workplace admin.
