MIO. I was right - that was lightening fast!

Excellent build. I really like your bases.

In terms of the finish of the bird I see that you finish the model edge's really well. Do you use paint or crayons or ? And do you finish after you have cut out before building, or after building?

Thank you!

I use water colors before building, acrylic and water colors after and dry pastels to the end

Retouching itself takes me longer than model building

Thank you!

The retouching is worth all the work though - the finished models look really good!

Well, John, I bought the Robin and it is, as I suspected, a totally different bird to the old Robin - different parts and much better artwork.

MIO in his latest post on the built Robin also shows the parts sheet, and you can see from that the difference in parts.

Yep! Comparing the two. there is a considerable difference in parts layout, but the end result looks so similar. It would be interesting to build the two side by side to compare them.

For now though, I still haven't plucked up the courage to try to build the Kookaburra, let alone these much smaller birds. My fingers and feet are improving, but only very slowly. I am still in a lot of pain, but since abandoning all the drug treatments and letting Mother Nature have a go unassisted, there is a slow, but noticeable improvement, and at least my head is back on Earth again.

Some very nice builds going on there Mio. Have you considered having a go at Malcolm's osprey yet? It's great fun to build ... As is the Canon Bald Eagle.

Yup John, building the two would be an interesting exercise.

But they are really different in terms of appearance, due to the different artwork on the new one. It actually looks like this was painted using different mediums compared to the old one.

I don't want to bug Johan unnecessarily, but I next have occasion to mail him, I will ask him out of curiousity if this is the case.
