New water fountain

Hi Guys,
Well we had to get a new Petmate free flow water fountain.
We have used these for over twenty years now.
Our kitties love them and will drink from the bowl or
from the water fall.
Also we use only reverse osmosis water in them.
It's better than city water, and what we drink too.
Anyway,,,
When we were getting the new one cleaned up and ready to use,,,
I had to clean some crap from the manufacturing process out
of it to begin with. ( WHEW !!! )
And we noticed that the thing is a bit larger, and an off white color now rather than just white like the others were.
Of course as you cat folks know,,, Cats don't really enjoy change much. Specially when it comes to eating and drinking.
So it's been a joy to get our kids to take to this new
water fountain. ( YAY )
Here are pictures of Brumby with the old fountain,,,
( He likes to put his paper balls we play with in it sometimes, )
and Callie with the new one for you to see.
OH YEA,,, we ordered it through Chewy.com.
And,,,
I did contact Petmate about the crap I found inside the unit
and cleaned out before filling it for the first time.
They were very nice about the information.
Best Regards,
Gary

Dear Cat fans:
Gary and I are also Email buddy's, and just recently he said that he has a paper model cat as a car mascot of the family car dash board. The Attached picture is of Charlie II I know it is not paper but it is of a cat, Charlie the first was a stray I took in as about a 2 year old lived with me for 21 years Big 21 pound black and white with hearts on one side loved to go on car/van rides you just had to say hay Charlie want to go for a ride, right to the door he would head to the van unless you said car charlie, he liked the Dash board better in the van. Charlie II is now 16 and 3/4 years old, When my daughter was born on the first day I went into the hospital gift store and there he was I got him for my daughter he was number one for about 18 months until family was in party city with Erin in stroller and she reached out and snagged a stuffed tiger hugged him and yelled out tigger, tigger. Charlie II went onto the stuffed animal shelf for 10 years then I took him back for the car dash board.
Enjoy,
Miles

Hi Miles,
Love your dash kitty!!!
Bet he stays there rather well too.
Here for you my friend is my re-paint on the
canon kitty to make him into an Orange tabby
with blue eyes.
I have him on my dash too.
He stays there due to a little bit of paper I have
on his belly that goes into the compartment lid.
Hope you like him.
Best Regards,
Gary

our kitty house

Hi folks,
Just because we really care about the roaming kitties that we
feed here at our house.
We have three that come every day for food and we
feed them Friskies canned food when they want it.
Crunches, and Lactose free milk too.
Also we have named them.
One is a tiger striped kitty we call Tiger, and another
is white with tiger striped spots we call Kitty, and the
third is a black kitty we call Ebony.
We thought about it and were worried about Ebony having
a place to stay if he needed it.
Tiget and Kitty come and eat and then leave. So we think they have places to stay.
But Ebony hangs out here quite alot.
So my wife went on line and bought a kitty warming house
and a warming pad for it.
We built it and put it near the back door to see if Ebony
would take to it.
Well he has slept in it during the day,,,
but I have checked for him at night and not seen him in it yet.
We hope when it gets cold in the Minnesota winter that he will stay in it to keep warm.
Here are the first pictures I have gotten of Ebony
going into and out of and hanging out in the kitty house.
Hope he will adopt it for winter.
Best Regards,
Gary

Hi Gary,

Well, if Ebony is sleeping in it during the day it is already home! Remember outdoor cats are very active at night! Like the cat house - wish we could get them here.

What do you mean by "warming pad". A cushion type thing?

------------------

We use a water fountain as well. The ones you can get here (American), use charcoal filters and they are very expensive. We can barely afford them. So we bought the one with the most cost-effective filter - a dog fountain that works well for the four cats. It is oval in shape and the water bubble up in the center.

------------------

I notice from an earlier post you don't like my use of "feral" for cats!

My definition of feral - an animal in a wild state - not tamed or domesticated. This is an important definition to make - certainly in Africa where African Wild Cats (like tabbies) still exist. These are 100% feral. You will be lucky to ever see one. Most people never have or will. Aside from true genetic ferals, we also have ordinary ferals. There are your normal cats, but they are completely wild. They will normally not domesticate at all. You cannot handle these cats - if you surprise them, touch them, or try to, or corner them they will literally tear you to bits if they can. My wife feeds ferals and she made the mistake once of touching one that came to her - when. Much blood, drama, and damage, even though it was tiny!

Ferals to my mind have also always been born in the wild.

We have been lucky enough though to have had two. Both from kittens.

One adopted my wife - he was part of a group fed by her. One day, very strangely, he came up to her and sat and looked at her. On a whim she picked him up, and for some reason he let her. She put him on the seat of the pickup and he stayed put and came home. He wanted to attack me though, and eventually did, making a hole in my upper lip! After a long rehab period, he became one of the most loving cats we ever had. He died of leukemia - this was Nugget and I have posted pictures of him here before. Still sad when I think of him.

The other feral was a newborn found dying in the road and brought to my wife. Home, rehab, and while he stayed with us as he grew up, he remained very wild. He didn't want to be touched, spent most of his time in hiding, and disappeared if anyone else other than the two of us appeared. He did this so effectively that friends and family have often never ever seen him!

However, over time he has mellowed and now likes to be stroked, and spend time with us. In fact, he rarely goes out. He still hides from everyone else.

This cat is Mandiki - typically a proper Wild Cat - tufted ears, tabby colouring, white around the eyes (improved light absorption for better night vision), black mouth, large paws and claws, and extra large whiskers. He doesn't like pictures so we have few decent close-ups, but my wife took a reasonable close-up the other day which I have posted below. You can see all the features I mention in the photo, even the tufted ears if you look closely - they are not so clear in the pic which was taken with a phone.

Hi Kevin,
First,,, I did NOT mean to upset you with my opinion of the word feral.
I just prefer the term roaming. I do however know that feral is a
term for wild cats and other critters. So please don't take offense at
my preferring roaming over feral.
Your Mandiki is truly a beautiful kitty. You are fortunate to have him
in your family. Please post more pictures of him if you get any.

As for the warming pad for Ebony's house,,,
It is an electric pad that you put into a Polar Fleece blanket that we have inside the house. When Ebony lays on it the warming pad will get warm
to help keep him comfortable in the cold.
As for a water fountain, we give him lactose free milk, and he can get water from the fountain too.
Know that I respect you taking care of the kitties in your country.

As for SWF,,, I love the picture of your kitty Georgie yawning.
Looks like he is telling you to change the channel to something different. ( HE HE )
Maybe he would enjoy my kitty space suit I re-painted and built to put our kitty Tribble's picture in so he could look like he is on Mars. Picture included.
Best Regards,
Gary
