Dear Friends:
I had bought one catnip plant last summer and spring is now here with some volunteers coming up in the pot. The family is going crazy stuck in side, now we can watch the cats bounce off the walls.
Enjoy
Miles

You can dry catnip as well.

We have a bed of catnip that has a screen on top - that way the catnip is protected from overgrazing by our cats, feral cats, visitors etc.

I will take a pic and post it for you - the mesh is a good idea and keeps the plants going.

Miles - its night here at the moment but you will see what I did tomorrow. The same thing is easy for a pot.

Picture worth a 1,000 words.

Hi Guys,
I have enjoyed all your pictures of your babies.
And I will enjoy seeing the catnip pictures from Kevin.
We have catnip growing all over our yard.
Our kids inside and outside both enjoy it.
Here are a few pictures I recently took of our kids
inside and outside loving us staying at home.
Hope all of you are safe and healthy.
Best Regards,
Gary

Here's a couple of shots of the 'family'. No. 1 Ratsie Katsie hunting lizards in the backyard and the new kids Stripes and Fuzzy Monster asleep on the couch.

Wayne - so pleased that your new additions are doing well. Good that you did "adopt" them.

Has Ratsie Katsie settled down now and is not so forlorn now the other cats are there?

----------------------

Miles - sorry. I forgot the pic of the catnip. And I just remembered there is one of the herb garden on my desktop, so I cropped it.

Since that photo we have had a lot more rain and it is really is a catnip jungle - I need to start processing the catnip before winter starts!

The second bed has all the catnip in. On the left, you can see the protection for when it was glowing.

I simply made a frame that rested on top of the edge of the bed, out of small PVC pipe (with elbow joints to "hook" it to the edges). I then covered it (using small cable ties) with plastic mesh - the mesh having 1' gaps roughly to allow the pants to easily find their way through. And that's it. As the new plants come out the cats do their own gardening and this actually encourages growth.

I have done the same for mall planter boxes - small PVC frame etc.

For your round pots simply cut some mesh, make it into a tube (same size as the inside of the inside diameter of the pot) and fasten it together with cable ties. Cut the edges of the mesh and cable ties flush so cats don't hurt themselves. Then bury enough of the mesh to support the tube. That's it. You just need to train the odd branches so they grow through the mesh for your casts to help themselves.

Dear Kevin:

May you and yours stay healthy,
Miles
