YAY
A massive YAY! indeed!
And a huge relief too.

Here's a picture of Missy, getting her nightly cat treats from my wife. Missy is nearly 20 now!

Hmm, so, how old is a 20 year old cat in SD40 years?

Missy has a great expression in the photo, interest and anticipation.

You asked a question I often duck - I always find cat aging complicated!

In fact I have always thought if cat aging was used as a sobriety test everyone would fail!

The method used to calculate cats ages varies slightly, but the generally accepted basis is as follows..

1. The first two cat years equal 25 human years (based on comparitive physiological and mental development).

2. Each cat year thereafter equals 4 human years.

So Missy being 19 is 25 + (17*4) human years old.

25 + 68 = 93 +/-.

And in a couple of months when she turns 20, she will then jump to 97.

-----------------

So, given that 1 SD40 year equals 2 human years, 93/2= 46.5 SD40 years!

-----------------

Actually thinking about it I must check with my wife, as she may actually now be 20 (Missy, not my wife!).

-----------------

Your comment about Missy's expression is interesting - she does in fact have a very expressive face and eyes. More so then any cat I have seen and she actually is capable of a wide range of "expressions" that do convey meaning.

Thanks again to ALL my kitty friends for your
kind thoughts about my baby girl CALLIE.
And to Kevin,,,
Very nice info about the age of kitties.
I always thought it was the same for
kitties and dogs.
1 year for a kitty or dog equal 7 years for a human.
So if a kitty or dog were 3 years old they were
21 years old in human years.
See what you think.
And, THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR KIND THOUGHTS.
Best Regards,
Gary

PS, LOVE THE PICTURE OF MISSY

On cat aging, my 2 tabby fellows are 11 and 10 now. The longest I've ever been able to have a pet. I hope all 3 of us remain in decent enough health to stay together for at least another decade; we each have several health issues of varying seriousness.

And then on the general topic of cat facial expressions ...

... convince me there is none there,
