Hi Miles,
I have to agree with Kevin,,, That is a classic kitty thing to do.
Cats are as I say it,,, ( heat seeking missiles ).
Love the picture alot.
Here for you is a picture of My boy Tribble who helped raise our
daughter Callie,,, both are by the vent in the kitchen.
As you can see they had the vent thingy re-aligned for
their pleasure.
Thanks for sharing your picture,,, and hope you enjoy this one.
Best Regards,
Gary

Hi Miles,
I know what you mean.
Our kids don't like it when we ask them to move from a warm spot either.
You should see how we have to let them nestle into the warm
clothing when we bring a basket upstairs from the dryer.
Sometimes we wait till they are not in the basket before folding clothes.
Here are just three of many I have taken of the kids in clothes baskets.
Enjoy,
Gary

One thing I've noticed with Callie is that she's a bit wider than the average window sill. I keep a blanket over my bedroom window because I sleep during the day, but left a gap for any cats to access the window when they want to. Callie will get in there and after a while doze off. Then she'll try and lay down... I hear a thump and see her come out from the bottom of the blanket near the floor.

Hi Murph,
Try the added section thing for her,,, and maybe lay down a nice
folded couple of towels for padding so she is comfortable
and can get warm in the window.
That's what we did here for a while.
Then we put furniture like cabinets for drawers that are on a
four legged support stand to make it match the
height of the window in the bedroom.
Both of our kitties will lay there and look outside.
And it's handy for storing stuff too.
When we put in a new front window a few years ago,,,
we made the sill about 8 inches wide along the entire
length of the front windows.
The kitties love laying on it to watch the birds, and bunnies, and
squirrels that we feed on the boulevard by the street.
( Great entertainment for everyone. )
Hope you can make some adjustments for Callie that
are good for her.
Best Regards,
Gary

For Murphy

Hi Murph,
Hey,,,
Here is a picture for you of how we did the drawer cabinet
in front of the window in the bedroom for our kitties.
Callie and Brumby are looking out the window at night
in this picture.
You can see that we also put towels on the cabinets for the kids
to be more comfortable while looking out the window.
Also,,, sometimes they lay there in the daytime for warmth
from the sunshine.
Hope this helps you with your kitty.
HAPPY NEW YEAR,
Gary

Talking about warm napping locations, this might be of interest,
"It all adds up to a metabolism with a high overhead. So
If a cat can run on solar, they will.
With the heat of the sun helping them stay warm, they are actually conserving energy. They like to seek out sunlight for naps because this offsets the drop in basal metabolism that comes with sleeps shutdown of certain body processes.
It doesnt have to be sun. We can be puzzled by cats seeking out stifling spaces in the un-airconditioned garage or curling up under a lamp even in summer, but that metabolic heat advantage is why they will seek out what seems like an uncomfortable temperature to us.
But for our cat, it means their body doesnt have to work as hard, and they stay warm and comfortable during their naps.
Thats why they will wake up just enough to inch along with the square of sunlight as it moves across the rug.
And give us one more delightful reason to enjoy their wild side."
Why do cats lie in the sun?

And on the flip side of the seasons:
"
Normally, cats seek out heat sources; we might not be aware that its possible for them to have too much of a good thing. Northern breeds like Maine Coon cats, Norwegian Forest Cats, or the Siberian; thickly furred cats like the Persian or their mixes; or high energy cats like many Alphas; these are all cats who will appreciate a little help in summer temperatures.
Just like we do.
Explore other cat summer strategies with Keeping Their Cool."
