Very sorry about Callie, Gary. It’s been two months now since we bid goodbye to our Checkers (my thread “Farewell to a Modeling Buddy”) and I can empathize with your feelings of loss.

So...

Back in June, I adopted a companion for Ms Reba Arriba Andelé.

Meet Ed.

Things did not go as planned- in spite of looking very lonely and in need of companionship from another feline, Ms Reba ABSOLUTELY DID NOT LIKE having another cat in the house...

Tonight the kids surprised me by doing this...

Glenn, you have my old linoleum there. I tried to find a match to it when I had to replace it (moving furniture and appliances did it in). Couldn't find a match

Did you do single-bowl feeding to encourage them?

Wow, that linoleum has got to be 40-45 years old...

That is actually a single-bowl watering- I keep two bowls filled for them, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom.

I can't do single-bowl feeding because they have two different foods: Reba gets a weight-control blend due to her overfeeding (thanks, mom...), and Ed gets anti-hairball since he is such a floof.

I had just changed the water bowl in the bathroom, and I guess both cats decided they were 1) NOT going to wait for me to get to the kitchen bowl and 2) NOT going to wait on one another to finish.

Well, with the Polar Temperatures of late, I took pity on Urchin Girl. She and Rat used to hang out, especially when it was cold, but not this year. Since Christmas was postponed (work schedules and weather), I outfitted the bathroom for Urchin. Best room to keep her separated from the Indoor Cats.

I don't think she is very anxious to leave ...

She has been evicted three times now, but she is back in her 'shelter' again. Maybe later today I will try again

Wow, been over a year since anyone's been here?

Anyway, here's the kids checking out their new toy...

Happy New Year one and all!

Do either of them use it like it is supposed to be used? Or is it going to be another coat rack, like my stationary bike?

Well, it has been a rough year-ish. I lost my GrayC in November of 2022 and my Calico in June this year. The ferals Rat and Urchin are still around, only Urchin somehow got a ruptured ear drum and though it is healed, she has horrible balance issues, so is now indoors. Bootsie is now my 'old' cat and she doesn't like Urchin at all.

Reba (the torbie) at least like to use it as a scratching post, so there's some good use. I think with time she'll actually run on it- she's done a couple of 15-20 second walks so far.

Sorry to hear this year has been so hard on you and you cats, VK. Best wishes to you and those that look up to and love you!
