Hi Whulsey, Love the picture of Ratsie Katsie. He looks like our outside kitty Ebony. SO CUTE. Best Regards, Gary |

Thanks Ray...and you may be right about Ratsie Katsie. When China Whitekat disappeared last year, she didn't really like him and was almost happy. Now she seems really subdued and depressed, or maybe I'm just projecting.

While consciousness and feelings are intangible things, the physical structure of the emotional centers in the brains of cats and humans are similar, and contrary to stereotype cats are social animals. So it is highly likely that Ratsie Katsie is having grieving feelings we humans would easily recognize if we could somehow hook up a jumper cable and share in feeling her emotions.
Pam has a lot of good info on and experience with cats. This might be relevant and helpful, https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/dear-...epressed/14782

Yup - you are 100% correct - cats are social and they do grieve.
Wayne - at the end of the day I am sure another cat will pitch - a stray - or you could go to the SPCA or local vet and do an adoption.

I think a lot of animals have the capacity for grief - whales, dolphins, elephants for example.
Cats seem to be quite atuned to emotions; whenever Wendy was unwell or sad Tigger would sit with her. Whulsey, give Ratsie Katsie love and attention, they are a 'person' too.
