Pterodactyl Glider

Hi folks,
I have a friend that fly's remote control gas engine aircraft models.
I gave him the F.G. Pterosaur models to try.
He did this to one of them.
He up-sized the Pterodactyl model,,,
Glued the parts onto a foam core,,,
and added servos ETC to make it into a
remote control glider.
This is his first try at this one. He plans to
do another and then see how they fly in the spring.
( It's just too COLD and SNOWY here in MN right now. )
We will video the flights for you then.
So here for you all are some pictures of his
build to check out.
Best Regards,
Gary

Awesome! Hopefully it flies well. I bet that one of those paper airplane motors might help too.

Y'all just might like this one then.

Hammacher Schlemmer

A double sized Canon eagle comes to mind, but at $499 plus cross atlantic p&p, I don't think I'll be buying one just yet.

The pterodactyl glider looks interesting. It will look neat soaring and turning nice and quiet once you get any bugs worked out.

That Hamm-Schlem eagle is a bit expensive. Notice how in the videos of items like that there is always some sort of other audio overdubbed or in some cases no audio at all so you won't hear the loud noise the engine makes.

Hmmm? I wonder if these simple FG Pterasaurs could be developed into a tethered kite? Enlarged onto thin tissue with a light frame ... should be possible.

I have a Chinese made 1:2 scale Eagle kite that I could use as a design base. Last time I flew that in the valley, on invisible mono-filament fishing line, there was a bit of a flutter in the Ornithology forums, but I never did prick the bubble.
