The Frog Thread

Hi all,
I have seen a lot of animal threads, and I decided to make one specially for frogs!!!! I took a lot of photos at a frog exhibition at the zoo. There were a lot of frogs, toads and newts, and even turtles!!! For photos, please visit this page. Mobile Uploads by N96HBK | Photobucket

Nice pics Dong-Woo! I had to look really hard to find some of the frogs as they are well-hidden/camouflaged. The animal in the last pic is particularly well hidden.

I enjoyed spotting them. It's like "Where's Wally", but a little bit easier.

At Cape May Point, New Jersey, there is a nature trail through beautiful marsh, meadow, and woodland. At one point, a long, straight narrow causeway crosses some marsh and pond. Several holly trees line the causeway.

Once, walking with my grandsons, something caught my eye and I found a small gray tree frog nestled into the place where two branches divide. It was at eye level, and I do not know what it was that drew my eye to it, because the little frog was precisely the same shade of gray as the bark of the tree. Wonderful camouflage! It was only by luck that we saw him, but my luck did not extend to my having my camera with me, alas.

Grey tree frogs!!! They like to hide in gaps in trees. They live in a vast area in North America, so they should be common.

I treasure hearing the frogs at night, cheeping away like crazy. My grandfather on my mom's side lost that part of his hearing in his 60's. My paternal grandfather always had poor hearing after a blasting accident. My dad stopped being able to hear the frogs in his early 60's. So I listen to them harder now, because one day not too far away, I won't hear them any more.

Sorry to hear about your parents. To be honest, my hearing isn't so good these days.
I love the sound of frogs. It's very calming.
