Johan Scherft's hatchling.

I've visited his site a few times and have downloaded some of his birds - it's comforting to see that there are good reviews of his kits..

However, Having a liking for automata I visited his "moving" tab and found the hatching dinosaur, and couldn't resist it.

Earlier this year I made my first PDO - with its odd instructions. This time round the instructions are on You Tube! I liked his idea about gluing the many tabs on the egg by using the next tab as a guide.

The model is just two pages - one for the egg and one for the dino. Judging the length of the instructions, I though this would be a quick build ...... wrong! There are many gaps and I hadn't factored in the time to cut out the parts. Having said this, it's not a long process and I realised that he jumped some of the fiddly bits.

So, a couple of evenings glued to you tube and bits of paper, the model is complete. It was easyish few evenings and the best bit is that my wife thinks it's a bit spooky ;-))

Cheers

Mike

Nice build Mike,
Love it, and your comment about your wife.
VERY FUNNY.
Best Regards,
Gary

PS,,, When I'm shopping I enjoy telling people that the eggs they
are about to put in their carts are ( genetically
evolved dinosaur embryos ) This usually gets some laughs.

Hi Mike,

This is a great build. I have built this one as well, a fun couple of evenings work. I have built all of Johan's free stuff and am about half way through purchasing the rest. They are all works of art and easy to do.

Thanks for sharing.

Bernie

I tried making this model of Johan's of the hatchling and each time(3 times in all)it was a failure. It's not the fault of the creator but mine. What ever level of a paper modeler is on the first stage of modeling I'm way below that me but I'll keep trying. I love all of Johan's fantastic models. I have has some success in building a few. I bought his Gold Finch(Wings in vs. the model with wings out). This will be my next one. I had some good luck with his Humming Birds, and like I sad a few others. Johan is a master modeler and consider him a good friend always there ready to help out. wc

Nice hatchling.
Put it on a table next to her favourite chair to show her how much you care.

Thanks for all the good comments.

It seems that I've missed out for a while not trying his birds.
Gary, I was thinking of adding this thread to the "bird" section ;-)

Cheers
Mike
