Good progress Sunto, and looking great so far. Are you going to whiten the teeth a bit, or stay with the statue texture?

I haven't built this one (yet), nor any of the others by this artist, but from past experience on many other animal models, large or small scale, for better access to tabs I've found it best to start from the back legs/tail and work forward to the neck. Thus allowing better finger access to the inside.

The head is then built from the nose back to the neck. Again allowing good finger access inside. Then lastly I place a tight fitting paper tube into the body neck and feed the head onto it. Not always, but often this also allows for a rotatable head for different poses.

hi John, I agree with you, it is most importatnt, when you start assembly of the model person or animal, if you start from head or legs. When I usually start with some model, importatnt for me is study of current model and his complexity and yes scale . Sometime as you saw in forum I resizing model. Sometime is not so good idea haha and I am angry to myself, but other side it is challenge for me. Anyway I usually starting model from head and follow to legs. Next question to teeth I will follow the statue texture.

hi All, again me and next progress in this interesting model. Some time ago I finished only one lions leg, so I continued on his legs. All four legs are now done and I can continue with his stand and also gold decorations on his head. His tail is also done, but not assembled to his body for this moment.
Here are last photos, please check

He's going to be a handsome beast. I believe you said you reduced the size. He still sits pretty big

Very nice Sunto. The seamwork is excellent, and the grey teeth do look right.

I'm guessing that 'Yardstick' is 5 cm not 5". If it is in inches I'll definitely be looking to reduce the size of these Zodiac figures. Even if it is in cms the finished 12 figure altar with Athene atop is going to be massive.

Thanks Gents,

John you are right Yarstick is in cm. Model of lion has now aproximately 17cm without stand. Together with stand will be his size around 20cm. And yes all 12 figures with Athene in center could be a big assembly I have not plan make it complete assembly, but I will make more from these nice models for my friends and sure also to me. This model will be for my mother as gift for birthday.

Hello Gents,
It is the time show you finished model of Lion. Assebly of this model was not so bad, but I had some small issues mainly after resizing with some small parts. He is 19,5cmm tall after resizing. Original has 29cm.
Please check final photos.
