Hoopoe
I saw one of these many years ago and for some odd reason I have always remembered it. I have made a couple of Johan Scherft's free downloads and decided it was time to make one of his more advanced kits.
The kit was quite easy to put together and the instructions were easy to follow. The bird is 1:1 scale and stands about 9 inches tall. Cheers Mike |

Really nice model of the Hoopoe, we have one living in the trees in our driveway.

Really nice build!
Pretty birds and I like having them around though I have not seen them that much - but they are one of the few birds that foul their nests - hence you don't really want them to nest in the eaves of the house! I like birds and would never disturb them if they did, but they never have at our house anyway! Here are some pics I posted of the real thing....... http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/527193-post843.html

Thanks for all your comments.
I only saw one about 40 years ago on a small island off the coast of UK. The island was a bird sanctuary and privately owned - strange how you remember little things like that for so long! |
