Thanks Fred and Doug.
Doug - feel free to play around! Your suggestion is a good one and I tried something similar but settled for the "cartoony art" effect above! If you do play around eventually I would be interested to see the result..............

Great pictures altogether guys! Certainly the owl provides a lot of inspiration! I wonder what Johan Scherft finds of all this creativity. He actually lives very near to my place if I’m not mistaken. In the town of Leiden, which is some 10 miles to the southwest of my village, of which the name is so complicated for non-Dutch speakers, I will spare you from that one.

Kevin, your original looks real good. All I did was to convert the owl into a silhouette and leave the eyes shining.
I saw a painter named Jerry Yarnell on a TV show paint an owl on a limb silhouetted on a yellow/golden full moon. The painting is called The Watchful Eye. https://www.yarnellschool.com/yso/PublicVideos Scroll down to near the bottom of the page to see the painting. The video link is just for the first part of a multy part series of the painting and does not show the owl.

Thanks Glen.
Erik - he sometimes has exhibitions in the area - I'll tip you off next time. Doug - I still prefer your version. Thank you for that link which was also very interesting. An unusual website and a good browse!

Erik - regarding your suggestions of building the finch or flycatcher. I have both of these and will do one of these as the next bird after the one I am going to start now - the Hoopoe.
I have one of these printed and also have them from time to time in the garden, so it has to be next! Here is the new thread..... Hoopoe - Johan Scherft
