Canon Cat

Here is my build of the Canon cat offered recently on the site. There are 2 pages of parts. I printed it at 130% on 11x17 stock which makes it 7in/18cm tall.

cat 1 head

cat 2 head

cat 3 head

cat 3 head explain

Note the blue circled area. It is not in the intructions but you need to make sure those two small tabs are inside when attaching part 2 to part 1.

cat 4 body

cat 5 body and head

cat 5 body and head attached

cat 6 front leg 1

cat 6 front leg 1 side

cat 7 front legs side

cat 7 front legs front

cat 8 lower body

It is easy to glue the lower body to the upper body because there is a large opening provided where you can reach inside and apply pressure to the 2 glue tabs used to secure the parts together. The two back legs are straight forward so no photos were taken. (Yeah, that's the ticket.)

cat 9 complete no bandana

cat 9 complete with bandana

cat 9 complete with bandana back

cat 9 complete various angles

The build is easy if you follow the red arrows shown in the instructions.

Nicely done. Lil will want to make this one to add to her collection of Canon Cats.

Very nice, I have not built one of these great Cannon models in a long time. They're fabulous. Very well done!

Although I can't find it in my collection or on line, this looks like it is based on one of Katsushika Hokusai's cat images.

Ah! Utagawa!

Thanks, Rick. Same general ukiyo-e genre and period.

This cat's got character. And it's nicely done.

Yeah, the first page of the intructions has this information:
Quote:
Utagawa Kuniyoshi Cat
Neko mo Kuwanai
(Not Even a Cat Would Eat It)
from Tatoe-zukushi no Uchi
(Proverbs Illustrated by Cats)
Figuring there must be something more to that info, I found this:
https://www.adachi-hanga.com/ukiyo-e.../kuniyoshi029/
and this:
Kuniyoshi Project
Just a little past half way down the page, although the other illustrations are interesting also.
