Johan Scherft goldfinch in gold
I decided to do the Johan Scherft goldfinch in gold.
Here are a couple of pictures of the finished model:

Gold leaf or spray paint?

Nah, I found some gold coins that had CSA on them and melted them down then used the lost wax method for the casting. Figured it would look good sitting on the Seymour card table I refinished a few days ago.
Actually just some spray paint I had laying around collecting dust. The base is some stuff I found in the back garden. Turned out not too bad.

Funnily enough ... I do have some gold leaf kicking around, but since I got it I've not found anything that I want to cover with it. I hadn't thought of a paper model, but it certainly won't be a boid. They are too pretty to blank out all the colours.

Well done, Doug. It looks expensive!
John M: My Indian cookery book tells me to scatter pieces of gold or silver leaf over Indian sweets and desserts. I did it a couple of times - an overpriced source of roughage but it looked good.

Doug - that's a very creative idea.
Looks great as well - now you just have to find a future owner! I give all my birds and models away - if and when I find takers who will look after them!

Of course, I'm not claiming it's the genuine stuff, but they are giving it away on wish.com

A very unusual and eye-catching model, Doug.
