Flying Bluethroat bird model

I don't know why I've waited to build a model by Johan Scherft, he is a super creative guy who knows what real birds look like for sure. Making this was a delight, and it looks like I'll be working on bird models for awhile yet, such a beautiful design. The challenge for a builder of this one though is the open beak, it seems easy enough, but turns out challenging to get right. I had to try a couple times to get this one. I made up the mount but it is foamcore so is light as the bird, really really fun.

Thanks Don, I must say this model is so pretty to look at I find myself enjoying the finished model too... Johan is a rare talent, and nice that he has shared some of these beauties with us all. Really cool.

Hi Kevin I can see why you like these models, they are terrific To make it out of thicker card and get smoother joints I removed the glue tabs and made my own strips out of typing paper, pretty much like airplane model fuse joins, when it dries up the body is really stout. Working on the wren... enjoying these models immensely
