Wren by Johan Scherft
I had this wren done for a week or so, but just made the paper branch scratch and the base. I rolled tubes of card and removed little parts from the inside of bends to form into shape and then paint.
I did try to do the open mouth version as you can see and it really is an adorable little wren to have, still thrilled with these models as from the start. I do a little customizing I printed the wings twice to be able to separate the primaries and secondaries on the wings, and to glue a back to the primaries so would look better. Again this was made not using the pattern's glue tabs which is working well with these. I also left out some thickness of the tail feathers, just didn't look right to me. I'm happy with this one too although temped to do another one fun.

The feather artwork and color is finely done.
Your scratch built stand is perfect. How many different Johan Scherft birds are there? Note: I think if you were to put this out in your yard somewhere, under the right light, you could get pictures that would fool many viewers with it as a real bird. |

Hi Mike, these are like a 3 d watercolor painting and they are definitely nicely drawn by Mr Sherft. This one is one of his free downloads.... He hasn't made all of his models available has maybe 10 or so birds some you buy, the bluethroat is one you can buy, they can be so realistic you are right and this one is so tiny, as several of his designs are, a life size wren, 3 inches or so stretched out..
