Thank you Don! I'm still having fun doing these... Your description of the Kingfisher is nice, we see them all year here, but some years in summer they also nest here. You can easily see the young after fledging, as they chase their poor mom as young birds are wont to do. This time of year when some of the trees are bright colors as it contrasts so nice against the blue coloring. I have only found one nest, in North Idaho, was way up on on a large excavated dirt bank, they make quite a long tunnel into the dirt I understand.
Their direct powerful flight seems to row along through the air is welcome to see... they are surely one of the well known birds of America (the belted).

Some more progress today, showing the wings, I added the aft part then, and inserted from the front before adding the head. Tail temporarily on.

Very authentic treatment of the feathers on the head.
Compares quite favorably with the real thing.

Cool photo, did it survive? Looks like it had a few things to say...

Great looking build so far. Enjoying seeing it grow into a final shape.

Thanks Mike
It wasn't hurt just stuck on the boat I think he had fun getting to catch and hold the bird.....ha, I'm sure it didn't like it too much though.
