Canon Green Sea Turtle
Glen's craftsmanship on his Peregrine falcon inspired me to finally put blade to paper on one of these Canon creatures as well. I've been having a frustrating time on the other paper models I'm working on and a one day model sounded like what I really needed, so I chose the green sea turtle. It's colorful, simple and well-designed. And while the finished model is simple, it still manages to evoke a natural feel to the forms. Many thanks to Canon for this and all there great free kits!
It was only four hours of work or so and I split it in half by taking a nice long walk on the beach with my wife and daughter to collect shells. Very enjoyable day all around. I'll be keeping these kits in mind for the next time I hit a road block on my other builds. Chris |

That looks real good. The carpet even looks like wet sand.

That's a great looking turtle Chris! I do love the texturing that they use on their models. Makes it appear to be very realistic.

Outstanding, Chris!
Is it my imagination, or does it look a little like a reptilian Gremlin? Don |

The photorealistic texturing is exactly what I look for in models and what I try to add to my own repaints...these Canon models are fantastic!
You have done a great job with it too! Only thing I dislike about the "free" Canon models, is the extreme number of pages that have to be printed for some models. The model parts are spread out quite generously over way too many pages! And each page also includes banners and uneccessary items to be printed repeatedly. I think Canon is making sure you use plenty of ink! lol

Nice Chris These models look pretty in the hand too when you can look them over and see all the artwork.

What I do sometimes with the Canon models is use the snapshot tool (in Adobe Reader 9 now) to draw a box around the parts, leaving out the banners and such, and choose Print Selected Graphics.
That also helps sometimes in printing models on US Letter at the intended scale that are released on A4 size. It does not work all of the time, though.

just did the Budgerigar, a simple model with only 5 parts - thinking of doing a second one, buy a little cage to put them in and see if anybody react to it
got the turtle on my "will do it later" list (gotta finish my "building right now list)
