(07) Modern photo, Spirit interior

This is one of the very few modern photos of the interior of the Spirit of St. Louis as it looks today, hanging from the roof of the Smithsonian. It was taken in 2003, probably during some clean-up or maintenance operation.

According to one expert, the line between the tan fabric & the silver doped fabric on the left side marks the seam where the French mechanics repaired the Spirit after it was torn apart by souvenir hunters at Le Bourget. See: http://www.charleslindbergh.com/cgi-...c;f=2;t=000413

If so, the entire aft section of the fuselage covering must have been replaced (c.f. other internal photos, and the right hand side fabric covering in this photo). It also conflicts with the statement about the fabric sample shown here in another album. See: http://www.papermodelers.com/gallery...php?photo=1154
