Hohenschwangau.

I have a feeling that a thread already exists for this castle - If so I apologise for "treading on someone's toes"

I bought the kit when it was first published, mainly becase I had visited the castle. When I saw the kit I was a bit worried that it would be a bit of a let down, especially when compared with the big kit of Neuswanstein.

My wife and I have also visited Neuswanstein - they are facing each other across a lovely valley. We both agree that Hohenschwangau was the better of the two, partly because the "visiting experience at Neuswanstein was miserable - we were treated like cattle - even to the point of being hearded into "pens". We also found that if you didn't move on with the fast talking guide, you got overtaken by the next group. We were lucky at Hohen schwangau, becuse we were there late in the afternoon for the last tour of the day and we were the only two.

Anyway, less about holidays. The build was quite straigh forward and as I went on, I appreciated the smaller scale because it fitted in with the smaller building. It became almost a jewel!

The only problem was a couple of places on the main wall where it met the two walls of the gates. I tried painting over the joins with foliage, but wasn't happy with my poor painting. I then decided to mix a few fine grade railway grasses and paint this to the wall and base. It looks OK buy at least it covers the joins !

Cheers
Mike
