I hate to say this, but I second that.
I think that there ARE "oddball" (from the lack of models) aircraft that would have a wider appeal than some of the ideas posted here.
Another suggestion would be to do a series of all of the "oddball" aircraft, say, that were in a series, like all of the US fighter prototypes that did not come to fruition, or bombers, etc...
For instance, you could do the North American Aviation bomber prototypes that did not go into production...
You could start with the NA-40 (I have a 3-view)

Then do the XB-28

The-Blueprints.com - Blueprints > WW2 Airplanes > North American > North American XB-28 (USA) (1942)
Then do a B-45 Tornado...

Or some other "product line" that might grab a consistent customer base...
