Hi there!
I made a whole paper model out of balsa. You can see the result
here. I just replaced the parts with balsa wood of different thickness: 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm and 4mm.
Easy to cut with a sharp knife/scalpel in grain direction, not so pleasant to cut across the grain. But all together I was very satisfied and it was a lot of Fun to make a paper model out of "new material"...
In my recent build I use balsa from time to time for various purposes, for instance
this one.
In my opinion it is a useful material for paper modelers if you do not want to build a "strictly-paper-only-model"...
